Love Poems from God

by Stephen Melton | February 17, 2009

February is often seen as a month of love because of Valentine’s Day. The practice of sending Valentine cards began in honor of a Christian martyr named Valentine who was befriended by the young daughter of the jailor where he was being held. He sent her cards to thank her for her kindness. In recognition of St. Valentine, for the four "Tuesday Mornings" in February I am sharing poems from the book, Love Poems from God - a collection of poems and prose from twelve different authors from various faith traditions.

Love Poems From God

"IF YOU LOVE"

You might quiet the whole world for a second

if you pray.

And if you love, if you

really love,

our guns will

wilt.
