The Spiritual Self
One of my favorite writers is Abraham Twerski. He is a Rabbi and Psychologist. A very wise man. He combines his psychological training with spirituality and comes up with some gems of wisdom. In March, I will be sharing several gems from his book: The Spiritual Self.
"The trouble with our world is not that it’s one thing after another, but that it’s the same damn thing over and over again." (25)
"If there is a design and intelligence behind the universe, it is absurd to assume that contentment and tranquility are the goals of life. If the latter were true, there would be no need for the enormous mental capacity that humans have....if life’s aim was to achieve tranquility and contentment, there would be no need for mental faculties....The enormous mental capacities of human beings were clearly not designed for the goal of tranquility." (32)
