"O Lord, Enable Me"
O Lord enable me
it is taking more time
energy
heart
than I thought would be necessary to
heal
others are nourishing me
reaching out to me
I need them
maybe it’s okay for awhile
to be in the receiving end of encouragement
O Lord, enable me to accept their kindness
without apology
or embarrassment
enable me
to accept your mercy
without presuming
or defending
enable me
to accept myself
without put-down
or put-on
enable me
to accept any I have hurt
damaged in ways
I cannot repair
enable me
to accept any who have hurt me
or misunderstood me
or judged me
and keep a bitter spirit from me
O Lord, let me not wallow in self-pity
nor simmer with resentment
but pick up whatever is my burden
and carry it.
