SMALL GROUP EVENTS

Posted on July 27, 2010

All are invited to join any of these small groups at Silver Spring.  If you need any further information, feel free to contact the church office at 766-0204.

YOGA

Join us Tuesday or Thursday mornings from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. or Wednesday evenings 6:00 - 7:00 p.m., both at the chruch in room 203. If you have any questions, please contact Lisa Janson - lisaj626@gmail.com or call 697-3356.

WINE-TASTING GROUP

The Wine Tasting Interest Group has planned an evening at Nissley Vineyards on Saturday, August 14. The Boomers will be the musical group of the evening, featuring Top 40, classic to modern rock. Bottles of wine will be available for purchase. Bring a snack/dish to be shared and spend an enjoyable evening outside. Nissley recommends you arrive between 6 and 7:30 p.m. Once the maximum number of attendees is reached, entrance is cut off and no one else is allowed in. We plan to have several people there early enough to reserve space for us to sit together. Bring lawn chairs and the expectation of a fun evening. If anyone is interested in joining this small group, please contact Jenny Bell at 697-0679 or jlbell53@verizon.net.

GARDEN GROUP

Have you stopped and smelled the roses? If not, take a walk out to the main entrance of the church property and check out the new gardens around the sign and both sides of the driveway. Twenty two rose bushes, stella dora lilies, and geraniums now decorate the front entrance. On your way back, stop by the Peace Garden and meditate on the beauty of the landscape there also.

All this is being done by our very own "Garden Group."  Their next major project is the Manse.

Please contact Chris Sebring (766-8988) or email chris@sebringinc.com if you would like to help out. Join a bunch of great friends for fun and fellowship dedicated to preserving and adding to the beauty of our "Great Campus."

GAY/LESBIAN SUPPORT GROUP

Do you know a loved one or a friend who is gay or lesbian and needs the support of our church community? Have you ever been concerned that people who are gay or lesbian may not know that they are welcome at Silver Spring? Do you know a family, either in or outside our membership, who has struggled with these or other questions? If so, maybe you should think about becoming involved with our new small group to make gays and lesbians more welcome at Silver Spring. This group of ten men and women met with Rev. Steele on June 1 and will be meeting again this fall. For more information, contact the church office or Heather Seeno.

PLANT EXCHANGE GROUP

Our plant exchange this spring was successful with many plants donated, exchanged and taken. Those not having plants to exchange but wanting some of the plants, made a donation. The funds collected during the three Sundays of the exchange totaled $50.00. Wow! That money will be used by the Garden Committee to beautify our campus.

Plans right now are to have a fall exchange September 12, 19, and 26. This time we will get the notice out early and ask anyone bringing plants to put a label on or stick with the name of the plant so that everyone will know what they are getting.

Special thanks go to Glen Weber for taking care of the plants and bedding them down from week to week or planting them when we were through.

If you are interested in helping with the plants between services or after the second service in the fall, please contact Mike Law at 737-3247 or ddelaw@paonline.com.
