Services
Sunday morning worship at Silver Spring occurs at 8:00 and 10:45 AM from September through mid-June. During the summer months we move to one service at 9:30 AM.
We worship in the Meiting House, in a traditional style. The reading and hearing of God's Word is central to our worship. We spend a significant part of the service on "a time with the children," Scripture reading, and the Sermon. Listening for God's Word for us and being open to hear that Word is a large part of why we are in worship.
Music also plays a significant role in our worship and our choirs work diligently to assist in leading us through hymns and choruses with ease so that the focus remains on God. In addition, special music, youth bands and choirs perform throughout the year.
When you arrive on a Sunday morning, ushers greet you at the door and help you find a seat. You'll receive a worship bulletin that guides you through the order of service. Announcements regarding upcoming events and programs can be found inside the door in the Meeting House. Hymnals and Bibles are found in each pew. And remember, the people in the pews around you are always willing to answer any questions you might have!
Wednesday evenings during Advent and Lent we offer opportunities to slow down, meditate and worship from 7:00 to 7:30 in the Meiting House. The Advent services usually focus around music, while the Lenten services are more meditative.
Communion is observed the first Sunday of every month. All who attend worship are invited to partake, regardless of denomination or church affiliation. Communion elements are passed to each person as they remain seated.
