Confirmation

Confirmation is for students in 8th grade and beyond. It is a year-long process of exploration led by Rev. Don Steele. Each Confirmand is asked to select a mentor with whom they are comfortable partnering with for this process. Mentors are sometimes a former church school teacher, an adult in the church they know well, a grandparent or even an older youth. Together they explore the larger questions of faith, with the understanding that this is not the whole journey, but the beginning of a lifelong journey.

The Confirmation Class meets one Sunday evening a month for one hour where an assignment is given for the Confirmand and the mentor to accomplish together. The group also enjoys a weekend retreat in New York City visiting the Cathedral of St. John the Divine. Confirmands are also invited to assist in younger church school classes on Sunday mornings, giving them an opportunity to share their faith and develop faith sharing skills in a non-threatening environment.
